2021

I finally got around to doing a colour version of the dragon fruit flower (Hylocereus undatus) this year, it was really tough working the white petals. Also the first time working on brown paper which helped to not loose the white petals into the background.

Vicia spp. are part of the legume family (Fabaceae), and are commonly known as vetches. They can be grown at fodder for livestock. I have also seen it added to seed mixtures planted as cover crops as a insect attractant. They can come in many different colours from white, to pink and purple.

Another year another sunflower.

This one was a commission for a friend from high school. We used to catch the bus together.

Macadamia tetraphylla is one of the wild types of Macadamia, it was crossed with Macadamia integrifolia to produce commercial cultivars of the Macadamia that we eat. Macadamia is native to Australia but it wasn't us who realised its commercial potential. Rather all initial breeding and the start of cultivation was in Hawaii.

Each flower is made of of hundreds of small florets, the florets are so intricate and small I only did a small portion of the flower and enlarged the scale.
